Lecture 3 thoughts
I was interested in the context by which the idea of isolation was discussed in the lecture this morning.
In dispelling the myth that computers are isolating tools, it was pointed out that they actually encourage group work and collaboration. I agree with this, but the computer is also an incredibly powerful tool to isolate and bully someone.
The link that students have to computers and their phones makes them susceptible to prolonged bullying at all hours of the day. I believe that within the digital education realm, there is a need for learning how to use the technology ethically and responsibly, and that students should learn the implications and pitfalls of this new era of digital/social networking.
This technology can also be turned against teachers very quickly, with the recent accusations by students at a Melbourne school who leveled accusations of abuse against one of their teachers in an online forum

???
I decided to become a teacher for a lot of reasons. One of the main reasons though, is the fact that the digital work that I am interested in is now a part of the wider school curriculum. I`ve got enough industry experience, that I can now pass on some of my knowledge of the design, animation and television industry.
